Empowering an NFP team and SME client with accounting solutions

“We’re a lot more efficient”

Raymond Ingrey’s life revolves around uplifting communities. As a small business owner, a board member of a not-for-profit organisation and previous board member of a local Aboriginal Land Council, Raymond keeps multiple balls in the air.

Through his NFP involvement, Raymond oversees an organisation that focuses on early education and children services.

Raymond saw the need for meaningful accounting solutions for his NFP, and increased business efficiency in the operations of the organisation.

“A lot of our accounting and finances were done manually and were extremely labour intensive.”

And when he recently started his own small business, the Gamay Dancers, Raymond wanted no other accountancy firm than Unity Accounting by his side.

Upskilling and empowering

Raymond took the lead in moving the NFP into the digital world with everything they did. They were in need of an accountant who understood the laws, regulations and intricacies of operating an Aboriginal community based organisation, and someone who could gently guide the team into digitisation.

“We wanted to work smarter, not harder. Christine helped us in the transition to a cloud-based bookkeeping system and she trained the staff on best ways to use it. She also took care of most of the accounting so that our staff could focus on other core business.

We used to spend three days per fortnight on payroll alone – which has now gone down to half a day per fortnight. We have our time back. Overall, we’re a lot more efficient.”

In starting his own consultancy business, Barangga, Raymond knew he could lean on Christine for sound business and accountancy services. Her level of personalised services fits right into the needs of SMEs.

“Christine makes sure that she understands the needs and business direction of her clients.

She always makes herself available when I need her help, even though she has other commitments. The entire team at Unity Accounting is easy to work with and extremely reliable. She’ll drive here to consult with me, which saves me so much time. I really appreciate that.”

Making sense

Every meeting between Raymond and the Unity Accounting team is purposeful. “Even if I don’t know what questions to ask, Christine is across everything. She comes prepared and I feel like she genuinely has my business’s best interest at heart. After meeting with her, I feel good that I’ve achieved everything that I wanted to. Everything just makes sense.

I have recommended Unity Accounting to a number of people. Their services are extremely professional and of high quality – particularly for small businesses like mine. And their costs are very reasonable.”
